We are hosting a shimmyfest memorial on September 6th and 7th in memory of Momma T. a.k.a. Terry. Terry was a force, and she left a huge mark on the belly dance world. We lost such a brilliant dancer, and the community mourns. We want to mourn but also celebrate her life and celebrate this dance form. Terry instilled so much in so many of us. She taught all of us something. I know for a fact that Terry would want us to party like we've never partied before!

We have rented a location at: 1018 N 2nd St, Rogers, AR 72756 Rogers, Arkansas. It is a 2800 sq foot warehouse building. There are 15 parking spots up front with all being reserved for handicap, our guest of honor and our teachers. There are a BUNCH of parking spots behind the building. Please park in the back unless you have a handicap tag, please park up front in spots that are labeled if you are one of the people mentioned above!

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 6:

The celebrations will begin on Friday evening, with doors opening at 5:30pm. Ticket price is $20 and if paid prior to August 23rd by 5 p.m., you will receive a FREE Shimmyfest T-shirt! Colors available for t-shirt: black, red, deep teal,  royal purple, royal blue or dark gray. The price will be $20 at the door but will NOT include the free t-shirt if paying after August 23rd. This event will be a big potluck/hafla. Open dancing, talking, laughing, crying - all of it will happen! The party of all parties!  We plan on having the Terry look alike contest -- Friday night it will be ALL about Terry & Blaze (Tina) Shenanigans. Tina danced with Terry for years and passed away before Terry. They are dancing in heaven together. This will be the night we cut loose, dance, eat and have a celebration! We will have a sign up sheet for some dancers to teach their favorite moves within a 5 minute time slot. We will have a sign up sheet for dancers to perform. Sign ups for Friday night will happen AT the event and will be first come first serve! Slots will be limited!  Please bring something to share with everyone - cookies, veggies, fruit, dips, chips. etc.  Shimmyfest memorial will be providing water and soda pop for free. We will be very thankful for monetary donations towards the soda pop & water!  Lena will be providing WATERMELON on both days, home grown and delicious.  

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 7:

Vendors & Volunteers arrive: 8 am Doors open to dancers: 8:30 am Dance workshop begins: 9:00 am Dance workshop ends: 11 am Lunch: 11am to 12 pm Lunch on your own or purchase from food vendor: Uncle Dandy's Hot dog Stand (please let me know if you need a vegetarian hot dog) Dance workshop begins: 12 pm Dance workshop ends: 2 pm Beginner belly dance class: 2pm - 3pm Room flip: 3 pm to 4pm (please volunteer - if you can) Doors close: 4pm  

SATURDAY NIGHT, SEPTEMBER 7: Vendors & Volunteers arrive: 5pm Doors Open to public: 5:30pm Shimmyfest Memorial begins: 6:00 pm Eulogy, Bible Verses, song, Terry slideshow, 6 formal speeches (if you want to be a part of the formal speech, please reach out to Lena) Memorial ends: 6:45 pm

Shimmyfest Memorial show Begins: 7 pm (20 performances, must sign up in advance! 5 minutes or less time spot!) 15 minute intermission Shimmyfest Memorial show Ends: 9pm Teardown, stay if able to volunteer: 9pm to 10pm AFTER SHIMMYFEST party - tradition by Terry - must find a place to go afterwards!  

PRICING: Friday Night: $20 includes free t-shirt if paid prior to August 23, 2024 $20 at the door - NO shirt included if paying at the door. Cannot attend but want us to ship a shirt to you? Send $25 and we will ship one to you! We will have shirts for sale at the Shimmyfest Memorial.  Unisex Shirt. Sizes available: Small to 4X. White ink on color shirt. Saturday: Advanced Prices- Morning workshop with Yasmine: $40

Afternoon workshop with Shannon Sahr : $40 Both workshops: $75 (lay away available) Buy 4 tickets for two workshops -Sat only- no beginner class- for 4 students - get 5th student free! Must be paid together at the same time.  Deal: $275 (paid by Sept 5)

Beginner Bellydance Class Beginner Belly Dance Class: Beginner Bellydance class 2pm to 3 pm with Zada Al Gaziyeh Advanced: $12 (pay advance price until Sept 5) Paying at the door: $15 Beginner class: 4 beginner class tickets paid together, get 1 free! Deal: $40 - Must be paid by September 5th to receive the deal! 

First 20 dancers to book both workshops or all of it, in advance, will receive a gift bag with some really cool items, trust us, it's good! If booking a buy 4, get 1 free -you will get 5 gift bags with tickets if withing the first 20 dancers paid!
