Art has the power to heal, inspire, and bring people together. In the heart of Springdale, Arkansas, a rare opportunity awaits at The Bloom Room, an immersive art installation designed to awaken creativity, foster resilience, and strengthen community.
Created by Lyshell McBride, owner of Paint Your Power Immersive Art Studio, this free event is more than an exhibition—it is a transformative journey where art, light, and collective expression converge. The Bloom Room serves as a sanctuary for survivors and supporters alike, a place to connect, reflect, and celebrate the human spirit through creativity.
From the moment you enter, you’re greeted by a radiant floral path that sets the stage for exploration and healing. Inside, you’ll encounter powerful survivor art, interactive stations, and immersive environments that invite you to not only witness but participate in the act of healing through creativity.
The Bloom Room will debut at The Medium in Springdale, a program of CACHE (Creative Arkansas Community Hub & Exchange), and will also be featured as part of UnBroken at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art—expanding its mission to amplify survivor voices and share the power of collective healing with a wider audience.
While this event is free to the public, donations are welcomed and appreciated. Every contribution supports survivors, local artists, and the continuation of immersive community healing experiences like The Bloom Room. Together, we can keep art accessible, powerful, and transformative.
A Journey Begins: The Floral Pathway
Upon entering The Bloom Room, you are immediately immersed in a world of vibrant colors and shimmering light. A glowing floral path beckons you forward, inviting a personal journey of self-discovery and healing. More than a visual spectacle, the path itself symbolizes resilience—the winding process of growth and renewal that so many experience.
As you walk, the atmosphere encourages quiet reflection on your own story. Research shows that nearly 70% of people find creative expression helps them cope with stress and adversity. Surrounded by this radiant environment, hope feels tangible, and the call to embrace your creativity and share your truth becomes irresistible.

The Symbol of Resilience: The Birdcage
At the heart of The Bloom Room, you encounter a powerful symbol of resilience—a large birdcage by Lena Regina Smith, inspired by Maya Angelou’s iconic work, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. This striking installation invites interaction, prompting deep reflection on strength, freedom, and personal growth.
As you engage with this piece, consider its meaning in your life. What does freedom look like to you? How have you triumphed over challenges? The birdcage serves as a profound reminder that, like the caged bird, we have the potential to rise above our situations and soar. Studies indicate that 80% of participants in art therapy report feeling more empowered after engaging with art.
Creating Together: The Mirror Garden of Affirmations
One of the most captivating features of The Bloom Room is the Mirror Garden of Affirmations. This interactive art station surrounds you with mirrors etched with empowering words and phrases. As you gaze into the mirrors, you see reflections that affirm your worth and potential.
This experience goes beyond individual self-reflection; it’s about collective healing. The affirmations you encounter resonate with the stories of others who have shared similar journeys, creating a rich tapestry of shared strength and resilience.

Honoring Survivor Stories: The Survivor Art Gallery
The Survivor Art Gallery is a deeply impactful part of The Bloom Room curated by Lyshell and Angela Teeter, showcasing artwork created by survivors. Each piece tells a unique story, giving voice to lived experiences and inviting you to witness and honor these narratives.
As you explore the gallery, pause to connect with the emotions expressed through the art. Each brushstroke, color, and form reflects a personal journey of resilience and healing. This space serves as a moving testament to the power of art as a medium for expression and connection, emphasizing that our stories truly matter.
Interactive Art Stations: Unleashing Your Creativity
The Bloom Room encourages you to become a creator yourself through interactive art stations scattered throughout the space. Here, you can paint, draw, write, or assemble pieces to contribute to a larger collective artwork.
Whether you express yourself with magnetic flower boards or at open creative tables, the opportunities are abundant. This hands-on approach allows you to make your own mark on The Bloom Room, adding to its vibrant tapestry of creativity.

A Space for Collective Healing: The Community Message Wall
As you navigate through The Bloom Room at Crystal Bridges, you’ll discover a community message wall where visitors can write uplifting notes on floral-shaped paper. This wall develops into a growing installation of shared hope, allowing you to contribute your encouragement and support.
Writing and sharing your thoughts fosters connections with other visitors. It serves as a reminder that we are all part of a larger community, and together, we can uplift each other through our words and actions.
